Fri - Early morning departure as we make our way to Dover for our crossing to Calais. Once we arrive in France we continue our journey to our hotel in Roeselare.
Sat - This morning we travel to the historic city of Bruges, a renowned UNESCO World Heritage Site brimming with beautiful buildings, churches and canals. In the afternoon, to get a real taste of Bruges, we enjoy a 1 hour guided tour at the Brewery Bourgogne des Flandres where we learn more about one of Belgium’s most famous exports. We experience the different aspects of the brewing process, meet the brewer in the attic and enjoy a tasting in the alehouse at the end. We spend the rest of our day at leisure.
Sun - Today we make the short journey to the ancient town of Ypres, where we have time to explore at leisure – why not visit the excellent and moving In Flanders Fields Museum before enjoying lunch in the main square with its many cafés and restaurants? In the afternoon we travel to Zonnebeke where we visit the Memorial Museum Passchendaele. Complete with reconstructed trenches, the museum tells the story of the First World War, and the Battle of Passchendaele in particular, in a poignant and vivid way.
Mon - After breakfast we depart the hotel and retrace our steps back to the port in Calais to catch our crossing back to Dover.
