Mon - Morning departure as we head to our hotel. We check in and enjoy our evening meal.
Tue - After breakfast, we head to Canterbury for time at leisure this morning. This historic city holds many attractions, including the Gothic masterpiece that is UNESCO World Heritage-protected Canterbury Cathedral and the city’s Westgate gatehouse and cobbled, shop-lined alleyways. This afternoon we visit the clifftop Battle of Britain Memorial Site, seeing the pilot memorial and exploring the Spitfire-wing-shaped Visitor Centre for insight into Churchill’s brave ‘Few’ who won the 1940 aerial campaign.
Wed - This morning we travel into the Weald of Kent to Tenterden where we have the morning at leisure in this delightful market town. Enjoy a stroll along its pretty High Street, browse its selection of shops leaving time for a lunch stop. This afternoon we travel a short distance to the renowned and award-winning Chapel Down Vineyard. Here we enjoy a guided tour of the vineyard, learning how the various still and sparkling wines are harvested and produced, followed by a tutored wine tasting.
Thu - This morning brings a one-way ride from Hythe to New Romney on the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway, dubbed ‘Kent’s Mainline in Miniature’ for its one-third full size steam and diesel locomotives. Our journey showcases beautiful Romney Marsh, with its grazing sheep and alpacas, and pauses at Dymchurch, where there’s the chance for a walk to the beach, just 5 minutes away. This afternoon, we visit the historic Cinque Port of Rye, with free time to take in its cobbled lanes, half-timbered buildings, antique shops and St Mary’s Church.
Fri - After breakfast we depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
