Itinerary
Mon - Morning departure as we make our way to Worcester, a beautiful Cathedral and University City with a fascinating history, located in the heart of the West Midlands on the banks of the River Severn. Later we continue onto our hotel for our evening meal.
Tue - This morning we enjoy a scenic drive along the beautiful Wye Valley to Tintern, dominated by the spectacular remains of Tintern Abbey. We spend time exploring the Abbey’s enchanting ruins before visiting the town’s craft and antique shops. From here, we travel to Symonds Yat, a famous viewpoint commanding lovely vistas over the Wye Valley. We also take a circular River Wye cruise from Symonds Yat, admiring the lushly wooded riverbanks before disembarking and returning to our hotel.
Wed - Today begins with a visit to imposing Chepstow Castle, perched high above the River Wye. After exploring the historic market town of Chepstow, we then travel to Norchard and the Dean Forest Railway. We have time to visit the museum here and be shown around its locomotive restoration shed before embarking on a return journey on a steam or heritage diesel train, which transports us for 8.5 miles through the medieval Forest of Dean.
Thu - Today, we venture north into Herefordshire to experience the famous Black & White villages of Weobley, Pembridge and Leominster. These medieval villages have some of England’s prettiest half-timbered buildings and sit amid tranquil orchards and farmland. Dipping into their art galleries, cosy pubs and traditional tearooms only adds to the sense of stepping back in time. We can also enjoy the local surroundings and, before our return to our hotel, we enjoy free time to stroll and explore in the delightful cathedral city of Hereford.
Fri - After breakfast we depart the hotel and make our way to Ludlow. Some free time to explore before we continue home.
