York is one of the best preserved medieval cities in Europe and the rich history of York stretches out before you as you walk along the city’s walls and narrow shopping lanes. Standing out above all is York Minster. Nearby is the medieval shopping street known as The Shambles. The city also has some excellent museums including the Castle Museum and the National Railway Museum.

The city is recognised as being the regional capital of Yorkshire and the Humber and over two-thirds of the Leeds district is covered with green belt land with the city centre being less than 20 miles from the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The Victorian Quarter is firmly established as the “ Knightsbridge of the North” with a stylish shopping development specialising in top international names such as Prada, Hugo Boss, Paul Smith and Vivienne Westwood to name but a few. The city centre also has over a thousand shops and is the region’s prime shopping destination whilst also nearby is the Royal Armouries Museum.
